GPRS Performs Scanning and Toning to Locate Underground Utilities in Wahiawa, Oahu

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, Inc Hawaii worked for a large general contractor and was asked to locate underground utilities prior to excavation in Wahiawa, Oahu. The contractor was not allowed to damage any underground utilities such as the electrical, water, communication or gas lines that run through the desired excavation location. GPRS was able to locate and mark the underground utilities onto the surface of the asphalt and dirt so that the excavation could be performed without damaging any of the utilities passing through the areas to be excavated.

Ground Penetrating Radar, radio detection and toning are great tools used to locate underground utilities. We recommend doing this prior to any digging, excavating and/or saw cutting. Hitting unknown pipes can first and foremost be extremely dangerous for the crews performing the work. Additionally, damaging unknown pipes can cost tens of thousands of dollars, cost weeks of time, and can have a huge reputational impact. No one wants to be in the news standing next to an accidental water fountain or worse yet, a flaming gas pipe.
