GPRS Inc. (Ground Penetrating Radar Systems) was contracted to perform GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) scanning to locate subsurface items for bridge analysis in Hilo, Hawaii (The Big Island).

The GPRS Hawaii branch worked with a large local general contractor and was asked to do some GPR scanning investigation on an elevated post tension slab in Honolulu, Hawaii (Oahu). In the post tension parking garage structure it was essential for the general contractor to find the slab thickness, rebar (Top and Bottom Rebar), conduits and cables. GPRS LLC. was able to lay out all items in the desired location with depth on the post tension cables and conduits as required by the general contractor’s engineering team. GPRS LLC. Was able to provide all necessary information needed by the engineers. This information was then documented with photos and presented to the general contractor with a description of the scanned location.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems' reliability and trusted accuracy in locating subsurface items is why GPRS was called upon for this work by the general contractor. GPRS arrived on site within 24 hours to perform the work the general contractor required on short notice. GPRS used GPR equipment to scan the area in real time. This provided just what the GC’s engineers needed after the work was concluded, so that they were able to core through the slab and anchor without compromising any structural integrity or personal safety of the workers.
